Air India Express has joined Operation Ganga, the Ukraine evacuation mission of the Govt of India
Air India Express has always stood by the Nation and its citizens in the face of crises. Whether in the event of COVID-19 or the Ukraine crisis, the Airline was among the first to join the evacuation missions.
Operation Ganga was the initiative launched by the Government of India to bring back Indians stranded in Ukraine, through countries sharing its borders, like Hungary, Poland, and Romania. Air India Express joined Operation Ganga with IX 1202 Bucharest-Mumbai flight that carried 182 Indian citizens on board, landing in Mumbai on 1st March 2022.
During February and March 2022, nine flights operated under Operation Ganga. These flights carried a total of 1652 evacuees, mostly students. Senior ministers greeted them at the airports.
Our employees eagerly responded to the call of the Nation and worked together selflessly for the successful completion of the evacuation mission.
Other airlines in India too joined the mission with the government, resulting in the successful evacuation of thousands of Indians from the war zone.
