Air India Express named the ‘Best International LCC of India’

Yet another recognition for team Air India Express and we are here to continue our celebrations. Air India Express, India’s first international budget carrier, has been named the ‘Best International LCC of India’ by Today’s Traveller, the country’s leading travel, hospitality and aviation magazine. Mr Amitabh Kant, Sherpa –G20 and the former CEO of Niti Aayog, presented the award to Team Air India Express at a ceremony in New Delhi.

Air India Express, the nation’s first international budget carrier, touched the skies in 2005, scripting a new era in India’s aviation history. The Airline was born to redefine Indian aviation and give wings to the aspirations of millions of people for whom air travel was beyond reach.

A point-to-point carrier, the Airline connects 18 Indian cities to 14 international destinations. The Airline is a market leader in the LCC segment in the India-Gulf sector. Air India Express provides affordable and convenient connectivity on medium & short-haul routes, operating to destinations in the Gulf & South East Asia. With a fleet of 24 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, the Airline operates between 19 Indian cities and 15 international destinations.     

For many Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India, Air India Express is the first Airline to provide them with international air connectivity. Also on many international routes, Air India Express is the only Airline to offer direct flights. Cabin crew are recruited mainly from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, including those in the North East.
