Vijayawada, also known as Bezawada is a city located on the banks of Krishna River in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh state. The city holds an important position in the South Indian region as it is the home to the region’s largest railway junction which is the major link between North and South. Vijayawada which has religious, historical and archaeological importance is seen in the backdrop of Indrakeeladri Hills on the west. The Kondapalli Fort, Mogalarajapuram Caves, Gandhi Stupa and Undavalli Caves are extremely known in the city and showcase a blend of history and nature unimaginable. Beautiful springs, mouth-watering sweets, and variety of mangoes are the major attractions of Vijayawada.
Vijayawada also was known as ‘Place of Victory’ is a veritable paradise for people to learn more about the region’s history and culture. The city is renowned for some beautiful temples, Buddhist shrines and of course, the famous Prakasam Barrage. The Prakasam Barrage is built across the Krishna River and is imposing in appearance. It stretches 1,223.5 meters across the river, over a lake and is the largest barrage in Asia. Kuchipudi is the place in Vijayawada from where the famous dance form, Kuchipudi was originated. This beautiful and serene village is about 60 kilometers from Vijayawada and is home to the Kuchipudi dance school.
Now, Air India Express has introduced a new non-stop connectivity to Vijayawada from Mumbai. This Mumbai-Vijayawada will commence on 19 January 2018.
