Air India Express, flying successfully over the clouds has now reached Madurai, the Athens of East. The low-cost arm of Air India introduces direct flight on Delhi-Madurai and Delhi-Singapore sector. The flights will start from September 15, 2017, making it the first ever non-stop service between the cities. There will be four flights a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
The new announcement will certainly become a relief for the passengers to reach the Temple Town in a direct flight without any delay. The flights were started as a part of expanding the number of passengers from Tamil Nadu.
Located on the banks of Vaiga River, Madurai is the third largest city by population in India. Beyond the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple, Tirumalai Nayak Palace is the most prominent tourist spot in Madurai. Madurai is also known by the name Thoonga Nagaram (the city that never sleeps) due to its active night life.
